A few words from the CEO
Dear reader,
Welcome to the 2024 Annual Report of Greater Geneva Bern area (GGBa).
As we reflect on another dynamic year, we are proud to share the continued growth and success of Western Switzerland as a prime destination for foreign investment. The challenges of a rapidly evolving global economic landscape have not deterred the region; rather, they have further highlighted the unique strengths and resilience that make it an attractive business hub.
In 2024, GGBa’s efforts led to the establishment of 79 foreign companies across a variety of sectors, including ICT, Life Sciences, CleanTech, Precision, and Services. These companies, arriving from 23 countries, are expected to generate over 470 jobs in the coming years, adding to the region’s growing innovation ecosystem.
Beyond the core missions of prospection, promotion, and business intelligence, GGBa has worked tirelessly to support the development of a robust pipeline of over 500 active projects. Our team has identified 215 new business opportunities this year alone, reinforcing Western Switzerland’s competitive edge and strong appeal for future investment.
This year, GGBa also focused on expanding its reach through a variety of initiatives and collaborations. These efforts reflect our commitment to making Western Switzerland a business-friendly environment for both local and international companies, through close collaboration with the public and private sectors.
Looking ahead, one of the most exciting developments is the launch of the Cercle des Ambassadeurs du GGBa in 2025. This initiative is focused on building a long-term public-private partnership that will bring together influential stakeholders to advocate for the region and create valuable business opportunities. Through the Cercle, GGBa aims to strengthen its network and deepen its relationships with global investors, further solidifying Western Switzerland’s position as a hub of innovation and business excellence.
At GGBa, we remain committed to our mission of supporting the region’s economic development and prosperity. While the global landscape continues to evolve, we are optimistic about the future and excited for the opportunities that lie ahead.
We invite you to explore this Annual Report to discover the full range of activities and initiatives that have made 2024 a year of progress and achievement for Western Switzerland.
On behalf of the entire GGBa team, I wish you an engaging read.
